African Collaborating Centre for Pharmacovigilance and Surveillance (ACC)
 

Welcome to the African Collaborating Centre for Pharmacovigilance (ACC), a not-for-profit foundation coordinating the public, governmental, non-governmental and private sector initiatives in pharmacovigilance across Africa. The ACC was registered in 2014 and convened from 2014-2017 the pharmacovigilance activities  of two leading, pharmacovigilance organisations – the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Advocacy and Training in Pharmacovigilance (WHO-CC) of the University of Ghana; and Sante-Afrique International Limited, the parent organisation in contract with the Uppsala Monitoring Centre, Sweden for pharmacovigilance development in Africa. Sante-Afrique International Limited was established in 2009 and is the parent organization of ACC.

African Collaborating Centre for Pharmacovigilance
 
ACC been directly involved in the establishment of National Pharmacovigilance Centres in at least 20 countries (Drug Saf. 2016 Apr;39(4):335-45. doi: 10.1007/s40264-015-0387-4.) in Africa through in-country visits and technical support missions as well as offering various residential training programmes in Accra, Ghana.
 
ACC is the first organization to organize a formal training programme for Qualified Persons for Pharmacovigilance (QPPV) in Ghana and Africa in collaboration with and on behalf of the Ghana Food and Drugs Ahtority of Ghana (FDA).
     

ACC works with national governments, inter-governmental agencies, academic and research institutes, the pharmaceutical industry, private individuals, multilateral development agencies, product development partnerships and patient groups as well as the media.

 

When it comes to pharmacovigilance, vaccine pharmacovigilance, post-authorisation safety studies, GCP-level phase IV studies for medicines, vaccines and medical products, ACC is the place to be.

     
ACC holds the first multi-stakeholder database for pharmacovigilance in Africa – AFROVIGILANCE, a subscription-based pharmacovigilance service delivery portal and database
